It also offers a lot for your children: 4D-cinema in the Zona Colonial with historic background, numerous outdoor-activities with a lot of space to run around at Rancho Baiguate as well as action & fun while sitting on a horse, whale watching, zip-lining or jumping into the waterfall on the Samaná peninsula. In a huge family apartment in Las Terrenas directly on the beach parents can perfectly enjoy and get to know the Dominican Republic the best way.

Day 1: Santo Domingo Airport – Santo Domingo City

After you arrive in Santo Domingo, a private transfer will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel , located directly in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo. Enjoy the first impressions of the oldest city of the New World.

Day 2: Santo Domingo

You will start your day with a welcome meeting at our office in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo (2 minutes walking distance from your hotel). While you enjoy a tropical welcome drink we will give you some important information about your upcoming trip. After this, you will get to know the oldest city of the New World. The capital of the Dominican Republic combines the modern advantages of an emerging economy with the historic center of the city “La Zona Colonial” making this a very special place. During a 2-hours guided walking tour through “La Zona Colonial”, you will follow in Columbus’s footsteps and see (among other things) the oldest cathedral of the New World, castles, ruins and the residency of Columbus’s son, Don Diego. You will also visit a cigar manufacturer, where you will see the production of the popular Dominican cigars. The tour will end at the historic 4D-cinema, a highlight for you and your kids! The afternoon will be at your disposal.

Day 3: Santo Domingo

Take the day to explore Santo Domingo on your own. Some possibilities are:
– Exploring the streets of the colonial city with its alleyway, historic town, nice shops and cozy cafés
– Trip to “Los Tres Ojos“, a beautiful limestone-cave with three lakes. One of the highlights of the city, located directly in town
– Trip to a paradise island called „Isla Catalina“ (day trip, only possible on weekends)
– Tour with a Chu-Chu-Train around the Zona Colonial
– Museum for children “Museo Infantil“

Day 4: Santo Domingo – Jarabacoa

After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel by a private transfer. You will drive into the heartland of the country, passing cocoa, rice, banana and coffee plantations. On a well-developed mountain road you reach the Rancho Baiguate in Jarabacoa, the “city of eternal spring” snuggled at the base of the mountains surrounded by majestic beauty. Upon arrival, a traditional Dominican lunch is served at Rancho Baiguate. In the afternoon you will visit the Butterfly Garden at the Ranch.

Day 5: Jarabacoa

After breakfast, you will start the day with a guided panoramic hiking tour around Jarabacoa. The afternoon is at your free disposal with the following options:
– Exploration of the huge and green area
– Fun & pleasure with the family by playing table tennis, volleyball, basketball, softball or enjoy the swimming pool
– more activities that are directly bookable at Rancho Baiguate, for example River Rafting, Canyoning or Mountain biking (for children from 12 or 14 and older)
– Walking tour and little hike in the green nature on your own
– Visit more waterfalls (Salto Jimenoa I, Salto Baiguate)

Day 6: Jarabacoa

On this day you will go on a guided horseback ride to the waterfall Salto Jimenoa II. The afternoon is at your free disposal where you will have time to relax on the premises of Rancho Baiguate or use the options given on day 5.

Day 7: Jarabacoa – Las Terrenas

You will be picked up by a private transfer at Rancho Baiguate and taken you to your hotel in Las Terrenas. On the way you will pass by authentic Dominican villages, sugar cane fields and through beautiful landscape. In the afternoon you can enjoy the first of Las Terrenas´ beautiful beaches.

Day 8-14 Las Terrenas

Here is where your beach vacation for the remaining days starts! You will have a rental car for 5 days included that gives you the chance to explore the Samaná peninsula, the most beautiful area of the island, on your own. Some highlights for your day program are:
– Tour to the waterfall El Limón incl. horseback or mule riding
– Trip to El Valle for Ziplining or visit the waterfall and the beach
– Los Haitises National Parc, on the way back stop at „Bacardi Island“ Cayo Levantado
– Whale watching from Samaná during the season (January-March)
– Tour to Las Galeras and visiting the beach Playa Rincón, one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches of the Dominican Republic
– Trip to a hidden cave system close by Las Terrenas

Day 15: Las Terrenas

A private transfer will pick you up and bring you back to the airport Las Americas of Santo Domingo, other cities and regions on request.
Driving time: 2 hours
