On this tour, you'll discover the Dominican Republic in an authentic way – diverse, vibrant, welcoming, and full of stories. In a small group and accompanied by your German-speaking guide, who has lived on the island for many years, you'll get to know the country far beyond the well-known sights and gain insights into the lives of the people, their traditions, and their way of life.

Day 1: Arrival in Santo Domingo

Your driver will be waiting for you at the airport – either in Santo Domingo or Punta Cana – with a name sign and will take you safely and comfortably to your hotel in the heart of the colonial zone of Santo Domingo.

The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure. We recommend a stroll to the Plaza de España, where you can choose from a wide variety of excellent restaurants. Enjoy your dinner overlooking the house of Christopher Columbus's son and let yourself be captivated by the lively, cheerful atmosphere.
Day 2: Explore the capital

After a delicious and extensive breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your tour group and your tour guide, who will accompany you on an exciting discovery tour through Santo Domingo.

In the morning, you'll gain fascinating insights into Santo Domingo from a unique perspective. A highlight is the ride on the Teleférico de Santo Domingo: the cable car takes you over the Ozama River and various city districts, offering breathtaking views of the city.

Afterwards, you will visit the Santo Domingo Botanical Garden. A stroll through the expansive grounds with their tropical vegetation will allow you to experience the green side of the capital.

For lunch, enjoy Dominican specialties at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, a guided walking tour will take you through the historic Zona Colonial, with its impressive colonial architecture and the first cathedral in the Americas. A visit to a traditional cigar factory will round off this eventful day.
Day 3: Insights into daily life & journey into the interior

After breakfast, you will visit the Rincón de Luz Foundation in the Gualey district. The organization supports disadvantaged children and senior citizens. You will learn about their work on-site, visit the school, and deliver a food donation included in the tour price.

A tour through the neighborhood will give you authentic insights into the life of the local community.

Your journey then begins into the impressive interior of the Dominican Republic through the fertile Cibao Plain with its cocoa, coffee and tobacco plantations.

En route, you will enjoy a traditional Dominican lunch at a typical rest stop.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Ébano Verde Nature Reserve and take a short walk through the cloud forest. Afterwards, you will gain fascinating insights into the cultivation and processing of Dominican highland coffee at a local coffee factory, including a tasting.
Day 4: Onward to Santiago

In the morning, you will visit a traditional cocoa plantation near San Francisco de Macorís. During an interactive tour, you will learn all about the journey of the cocoa bean – from cultivation and fermentation to the production of chocolate.

At the end, you even have the opportunity to make your own chocolate.

After a typical Dominican lunch, you will continue your journey to Santiago de los Caballeros. There you will visit a renowned cigar factory and experience firsthand how high-quality cigars are crafted with meticulous handwork.

A short city tour will show you the most important cultural and historical highlights of the country's second largest city.
Day 5: Off to the north coast

Today you will leave the interior of the country and travel along the scenic Carretera Turística to the north coast of the Dominican Republic.

In the morning you will visit the Taino Valley tropical garden and discover an impressive variety of tropical plants during a walk.

The day is complemented by a short hike in the Cabo Francés area, the smallest national park in the country.

In the afternoon you will reach the beautiful Playa Grande near Río San Juan – one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic – and enjoy time there to swim or relax.
Day 6: Onward to the Samaná Peninsula

Today you will travel to the beautiful Samaná Peninsula. On the way, you will stop at the idyllic Laguna Dudú, a crystal-clear freshwater lagoon that invites you to take a refreshing break.

The route continues past small villages where you can experience the authentic life of the Dominicans.

After a typical Dominican lunch, you will visit the lively market of Samaná.

In the afternoon you will reach Las Galeras – a charming fishing village with beautiful beaches and a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 7: Whale watching tour

Today you can expect an absolute highlight of your trip: a whale watching tour with a certified marine biologist.

Between January and March, humpback whales migrate to Samaná Bay to breed. During the boat tour, you will have the unique opportunity to observe these impressive animals up close.

In the afternoon there is time to relax in Las Galeras and enjoy one of the beautiful beaches.
Day 8: End of the tour

Your tour of the Dominican Republic is coming to an end.

With many fascinating impressions of nature, culture and encounters in your luggage, you either begin your journey home or extend your stay individually – for example with a beach extension on the Samaná Peninsula, in Punta Cana or on the Caribbean coast.

Your journey begins in Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the New World, with its colonial old town, numerous sights, and rich history. You will visit a cocoa plantation, make your own chocolate, sample aromatic highland coffee, and immerse yourself in the time-honored world of cigar making in Santiago.

Traveling along the tropical north coast, you'll reach Cabrera and the lush Samaná Peninsula with its charming village of Las Galeras.
