On the first day of this adventure, we will welcome you to our office in the Zona Colonial and provide you with final information for the upcoming journey. Afterwards, you will receive your rental car, a 4x4 pickup truck. The evening is yours to explore the Zona Colonial or to do any last-minute shopping for your trip.

Your tour begins early this morning, heading southwest into the central mountains. The road takes you through remote mountain villages, past cocoa and coffee plantations, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the south coast. Upon arrival in Los Cacaos, you will receive safety equipment to ensure you are well-prepared for the upcoming canyoning tour. Alternatively, you can opt for a short hike into a beautiful gorge. Afterward, you will travel to your accommodation high above San José de Ocoa, which boasts stunning panoramic views. Tonight, you will spend the night in a small tiny house, enjoying the cool temperatures.

Today's journey takes you along the highest mountain pass in the Caribbean, which soon winds its way into deep valleys where the inhabitants still live much as they did 200 years ago. Along the way, you can stop at the pyramid at 2,400 meters above sea level, erected in 1958 as a symbol of gratitude for the road's completion. Your accommodation for the night is located at 1,900 meters above sea level, high above the mountain town of Constanza, making it the highest accommodation in the entire Caribbean. Temperatures here often drop below freezing at night, so you can end the day cozily by the fireplace.

Constanza offers many ways to spend the day: for example, hiking to the surrounding mountain peaks, some reaching up to 2,600 meters. There are no marked hiking trails, but we would be happy to advise you on our own specially created trekking routes in the area. A visit to the 83-meter-high "Aguas Blancas" waterfall is also worthwhile. Alternatively, you can spend the day exploring Constanza, a mountain town with shops and good restaurants serving local cuisine.

Today the journey continues to the mountain town of Jarabacoa, the "City of Eternal Spring," nestled at the foot of a breathtaking mountain landscape. En route, you can visit the impressive 75-meter-high waterfall, "Salto Gran Jimenoa 1." The afternoon is yours to explore the area around the hotel at your leisure.

The early bird catches the worm! The ascent of Pico Duarte – the highest mountain in the Caribbean at 3,098 meters – starts early this morning. You'll climb from 1,100 to 2,400 meters, passing through diverse vegetation and numerous water sources. Your luggage and provisions will be carried up on mules by the "Sherpas," allowing you to conserve energy and fully enjoy the climb and the Caribbean mountain scenery. You'll spend the night in your own tent at Camp La Compartición, where you'll have time to enjoy the breathtaking mountain views around a campfire before dinner.

The ascent begins in the dark, and after approximately 2.5 hours you will reach the summit of Pico Duartes, the "Roof of the Caribbean." There, a breathtaking sunrise and a stunning mountain panorama await you, offering a unique view of the island. This climb is the highlight of this unforgettable Caribbean tour. After a break, you will begin your descent, returning to the valley after about 7 hours of hiking. You will spend another night in Jarabacoa and relax in your comfortable hotel, situated right next to a mountain stream.

After a week full of new experiences in the "Alps of the Caribbean," you'll drive back towards Santo Domingo. Depending on your onward travel plans, you'll return your rental car at the airport or, if you've extended your stay individually, upon request.

Upon request, we will gladly put together a customized travel extension or a complete package starting from your arrival at the airport! Contact us.
